The RAMCAP Plus^® process represents the most current stage of the continuing development of Risk Analysis and Management for Critical Asset Protection (RAMCAP^SM).  The process allows for the rational allocation of finite resources to protect important and vulnerable infrastructure assets. 

The RAMCAP Plus^® approach includes protection (avoiding hazardous events or their consequences) and resilience (rapid return to full function after those events that occur).  By using common definitions, threats, metrics and methods to directly compare risk, resilience, and risk management benefits, decision-makers can better allocate limited resources – whether to individual assets and facilities or whole industries and sectors of the economy. 

The RAMCAP Plus^® Handbook provides an understanding of the RAMCAP Plus^® process as applied to a broad array of critical infrastructures, ranging from industrial facilities (e.g., water systems) to college campuses. The approach includes protection (avoiding hazardous events or their consequences), and resilience (rapid return to full function after those events that occur).
